Audience-specific

AI Literacy for Educators & Staff

Support educator and staff confidence with AI tools, source checking, bias awareness, privacy-conscious use and institution-approved practices. Student sessions are separately scoped with administrators for age, accessibility and applicable policies.

Who it is for

School districts, colleges and libraries

Starting point

Designed for adult educators, administrators, librarians and staff. The institution defines its policies, audience needs and approved tools; no prior AI expertise is assumed for an introductory version.

Format

Guest session, hands-on workshop or short course series, adapted to the audience and agreed learning goals.

What you will practice

  1. Explain AI capabilities and limitations in plain language.
  2. Practice source checking and discuss bias and information quality.
  3. Prepare materials using approved, non-sensitive examples.
  4. Design institution-aligned staff or student learning activities.

Examples, pacing and learning checks are tailored to the audience. Tools, accounts and any paid feature requirements are agreed before booking. Instruction is provided independently by Wire Hold.

01 / Syllabus

Inside the course

A proposed outline for planning your class. Examples and depth are tailored to the audience; the final syllabus is agreed with the host.

  1. Module 01

    Build a shared understanding

Explain generative AI, uncertainty and the limits of generated explanations. Discuss the difference between a learning aid and evidence of understanding.

    In practice

Review a sample explanation and identify claims that require checking.

  2. Module 02

    Check sources, bias and accessibility

Examine omissions, inappropriate assumptions, source quality and whether the language suits the intended audience.

    In practice

Revise an example handout and document the checks used to improve it.

  3. Module 03

    Prepare useful materials

Practice outlines, discussion prompts or staff communications using fictional and approved information.

    In practice

Create an audience-specific activity from a supplied brief without entering student records.

  4. Module 04

    Design institution-aligned practice

Add a learning objective, disclosure expectations and a review step. Identify policy questions that need an institutional decision.

    In practice

Share an activity plan and explain how a learner will demonstrate understanding.

02 / Format & pacing

Make room for practice

Suggested plan: a 3-hour professional-development workshop or a short series of 90-minute sessions with a material-design assignment. Depth and credit arrangements, if any, must be agreed by the institution.

Timings are suggested lesson plans, not confirmed availability or fixed delivery commitments. Group size, access needs, breaks and prior experience shape the final schedule.

03 / Takeaways

Keep learning after class

  • An example activity or staff material with a review checklist.
  • A source-quality and bias-awareness worksheet.
  • A draft activity plan tied to a learning objective and institutional boundaries.

Practice work uses fictional, public or approved material. Sample records and projects illustrate the method; they are not client results.

04 / Learning check

Show what you can do

Participants explain the purpose of their activity, verify its key claims and describe how the institution’s information and assessment expectations are addressed.

Learning checks guide feedback and next steps. Completion does not imply vendor certification, accreditation or academic credit.

05 / Preparation

Plan a class that works for everyone

  • Share institution-approved tools, policies and the adult audience’s roles and experience.
  • Use fictional records; student or other sensitive information is not needed for these exercises.
  • Confirm accessibility, procurement and instructor requirements, plus any expectations for professional-development credit.

Before booking, we confirm the audience, learning goals, format, materials, instructor requirements and fee. Tool subscriptions or other third-party costs are identified separately when relevant.
